Joint Venture with Hero Entertainment

Hello Community!

Today we announced a landmark deal that solidifies our position as a pioneer and leading player in the VR space: we are forming a joint venture with Hero Entertainment, a billion-dollar, publicly listed Chinese game publisher and developer of Crisis Action, the most popular mobile first-person shooter game in China with more than 400 million players. Hero is partnering with us to convert Crisis Action to VR gameplay with the Omni, and to create other VR content and product bundles for both the U.S. and China markets. Crisis Action is an awesome game to play with the Omni and will be available to all our customers.

Hero also owns the Hero Pro League, the largest eSports league in China, to which they will add a VR eSports competition featuring the Omni. In addition, Hero is investing a large sum in our Series A round.

Underscoring the scale of market access and sales momentum that this deal brings, our joint venture has already signed up its first major customer. One of China’s largest suppliers of amusement machines intends to purchase 5,000 to 10,000 Omni units for sale to arcades and entertainment centers. China has some 140,000 internet cafes, many of which will be retrofitted as VR cafes. The Omni is a great fit for these sites.

Our press release mentions another major public Chinese company, Leyard, who alongside Hero has made a large strategic investment in our Series A round. Both Chinese deals represent a major milestone for our company, one that validates our product road map and reinforces our standing as a leading player in the emerging VR space. Below are a few links to press articles covering our announcement of this landmark achievement.

Community, our company has come a long way since some of you backed our project on Kickstarter, and we wouldn’t have gotten this far without you. Our highest priority right now is to deliver our backlog of Omnis to you, which will happen in the next few months. Our recent business deals, on the other hand, set us up for long-term success and ensure that the Omni can earn its spot as a crucial component of the reborn virtual reality medium with excellent content for you to play. We thank you for your continued support.

Our Series A round is entering its final month and will close on July 31. So far we have raised more than $6 million from strategic investors including Hero and Leyard, various venture capital funds, and more than 1,300 private investors via Reg A. Interested investors can participate until the end of this month for a minimum of $1,000 via our SeedInvest page:
