Production Update, Minecraft, User Videos

Hello Community!

Production Update

We have completed nearly all of the quality improvements identified by our Pathfinder program and will kick off a pilot production run of our high volume assembly line this month. Our electrical engineering team is already in China to oversee the first production run this week of the three printed circuit boards (“PCBs”) that are part of the Omni. In late June, our mechanical engineering team will oversee our assembly line pilot run of 35 Omni units. Those units will go to early Backers in the US as well as to a few game developers and commercial partners.

Based on our evaluation of the pilot run, we will develop a firm production plan together with our supply chain partners and provide you with a delivery schedule backed by commitments of our manufacturers. Our aim is to produce 500 units in July and increase our production to 1,000 units in August and 2,000 units/month by the end of this year.

See a few recent pictures below of our PCB test station and production in China:

Minecraft with the Omni

A big advantage of the Omni is that it works out-of-the-box with many existing games as well as new VR content. See below for a recent video we made of Minecraft VR played with the Omni and the Samsung Gear VR. No tweaks were necessary to enable this gameplay, and the Omni eliminated all motion sickness!

For developers who want to optimize their game specifically for the Omni: we finalized our Omni SDK for Unity and will make this package available for download soon. Our UE4 SDK is in the works as well.

New Pathfinder Videos

Our Pathfinders continue to have fun on the Omni. So far, early Omni players have taken a total of 400,000 steps on their Omnis. One Pathfinder recently surpassed the 100,000-step mark and lost 12lbs of body weight in the last three months!

Here’s a video of Pathfinder and community manager SutekiB playing MIND: Path To Thalamus with the Omni (no tweaks necessary to play):

And here’s SutekiB playing TRAVR: Shadow Ops:

Pathfinder and game developer Olivier JT received his Omni in France and posted this unboxing video:

Olivier will develop and optimize parts of his game Synthesis Universe for the Omni.
