Tooling Progress and GTA V

Good news from our manufacturing facility in China – tooling is progressing at a steady rate, and we anticipate the largest mold to be ready for testing as early as next month. See below a few pictures of the Omni base mold in progress:

GTA V with the Omni

Earlier this month, one of the biggest gaming titles arrived to PC – Grand Theft Auto V. Anticipation was palpable amongst the VR community, and so we invited one of our forum moderators, sutekiB, to be among the first to try the game with the Omni.

GTA V is not a VR ready game, so third party drivers are required to make the game work with the Oculus Rift. GTA V is also not optimized for VR.  Some elements of the game, including cut scenes and fighting animations, cause motion sickness. That said, sutekiB had a fun experience running and gunning in Los Santos.

Note: the game session involved some particularly graphic acts of violence that were much more shocking in the recorded footage than any of us expected! We do not condone such brutality in real life, but the reactions this video elicited show just how powerful the medium of VR can be.

Check out sutekiB’s impression of GTA V on the forum here and see the video below (viewer discretion advised).
