This past month was groundbreaking for Virtuix: we added two impressive advisors to our team, and part of our team was in China to inspect our first production-level Omni, which is looking stunning. Our production remains on track. We are keeping the final design under wrap until our big reveal at CES in January, where the Omni will be showcased in our booth and in the booths of various partners at the show.
Virtuix Advisors
We are proud to announce the addition of two knowledgeable advisors to the Virtuix team who will guide us on our exciting road ahead: Kai Huang and Mike Griffith. Kai Huang was co-founder of Red Octane, the developer of “Guitar Hero.“ Kai will be instrumental in helping us scale our business and build a mass-market consumer brand, akin to the success story of the Guitar Hero brand and experience.
Mike Griffith is the former CEO of Activision Publishing and current Vice Chairman at Activision. Mike will be instrumental in guiding the development of the Omni as a “Full VR” experience that takes advantage of must-have, killer apps for the Omni.
Upcoming Events
Our CEO Jan Goetgeluk will speak on “Interacting with VR Today and Tomorrow” at the Samsung Developer Conference at the Moscone Center in San Francisco on November 13th at 10am PT.
A panel organized by Virtuix on “Suspension of Disbelief in Virtual Reality” was elected out of more than 3,300 proposals for next year’s SXSW Interactive conference in Austin, TX (March 13-17); CEO Jan Goetgeluk will present alongside Amir Rubin (CEO, Sixense), Paul Bettner (CEO, Playful), and Jason Jerald (CEO, Nextgen Interactions). Thanks to all who voted for our proposal!
Zero Point
Condition One released “Zero Point” this month, the first immersive, 3D VR movie shot in 360 degrees for the Oculus Rift. The 15-minute documentary follows the “pioneers of virtual reality” with Oculus VR co-founder Palmer Luckey and a feature on the Omni. Definitely worth checking out!
With the recent buzz around Magic Leap (which received a $542 million investment from Google and other investors), the VR / AR industry is poised to continue its upward climb. Thanks to your support, Virtuix has an important role to play in this emerging space by offering an immersive “Full VR” experience that expands VR beyond the chair. With the additions of Kai Huang and Mike Griffith to our story, we have an exciting road ahead of us. Thank you for your continued support as we continue to build an immersive entertainment product and experience.
